John was the son of John Yeatman (1747-1821) and Jenny Skivington (1754-1828). He was baptised on 18 September 1791 within the parish of Shillingstone and probably in the Church of the Holy Rood.2Church of England, “Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, … Continue reading John may have been born in Okeford Fitzpaine earlier that year. His father, Thomas Yeatman (1747-1821), leased land in the parishes of Shillingstone and Okeford Fitzpaine but was ‘of’ Okeford Fitzpaine. It may be that the family lived there but attended services in neighbouring Shillingstone.3John’s burial record states he was 55 years of age at the time of his death. John witnessed the marriage of his brother, Thomas, to Mary Ann Rideout on 28 May 1817 at Okeford Fitzpaine. They were both from Okeford Fitzpaine but their marriage record has yet to be discovered. Harriet’s sister, Mary Ann, married a local farmer (Henry Pope) but their marriage record is also nowhere to be found. The sisters’ maiden names are, thus, unknown and efforts to locate them are ongoing.
