Jenny was the daughter of John Skivington (1709-1779) and Jane Pit (-1778). She was known by her family as Jane and this is the name that will be used here.3Church of England, “Dorset, England, Wills and Probates, 1565-1858”, Will of John ...continue Jane was baptised on 4 June 1754 in within the parish of Shillingstone and probably in the Church of the Holy Rood. The scribe appears to have had some difficulty with the Skivington surname and may have originally written ‘Skimington’. The entry is now difficult to read. Jane married John Yeatman (1747-1821) on 3 October 1774 at Shillingstone. Jane, at around nineteen years of age, was underage and required the consent of her father, John. In addition, they married by licence and both signed their names. Jane’s father John died in 1779. She was bequeathed the leasehold land known as New Cross in Shillingstone in his will. John, Jane’s husband, made a will on 1 March 1814 and Jane was made an executor. When John died in 1821 she received the leasehold estates located in Okeford Fitzpaine and Shillingstone and all contents which were shared with her sons, John and Thomas.
