Biography

Mary was the daughter of John Hallet ( -1688) and Dorothy ( -1699). She was baptised on 17 April 1672 within the parish of Shillinge Ockford and probably in the Church of the Holy Rood.3Church of England, “Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, ...continue Her name was spelled ‘Marie’ on at the time of her baptism but it was spelled ‘Mary’ at the time of her marriage and burial and it is this spelling that has been adopted. Shillinge Ockford was also known as Shilling Okeford and is now known as Shillingstone.

At around the age of 22 Mary married George Skivington (-1711) of Belchalwell. They were wed on 6 April 1695 by licence within Mary’s parish of Shillinge Ockford and the event probably took place at the Church of the Holy Rood.4Church of England, “Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, ...continue Mary and George would go on to have at least five children who were all baptised in Shillinge Ockford:5Other children may exist.
