Sebastian was the son of Charles Pitfield (1665-1743) and his wife Amey. The marriage was witnessed by Thomas Gascomb and Armbrose Hunt and John Jacob, the vicar of St George, performed the ceremony. Sebastian and Mary’s two eldest children, Amey and Sebastian, died within days of each other in 1761. This is suggestive of an infectious illness and must have devastated the couple.
