The last Will & Testament of John Skivington of Shillington.


This is the last Will and Testament of I John Skivington of the Parish of Shillington in the County of Dorset Inholder; made and Published the tenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy nine.
First I will that all just debts I owe at the time of my Decease, together with my Funeral Expences be paid & discharged by my Executrix hereafter mentioned.
Also, I give and Devise unto my Daughter Mary Bess Wife of Benjamin Bess of Wareham in the said County my Freehold Estate (viz) my House, Outhouses and all belonging thereto in which I live, together with my Household Goods, Stock, brewing Utensills and the Orchard joining to the said Lands to the expiration of the Lease both which said Estates I give unto ye said Mary Bess and her Heirs for Ever But I will that the said Mary Bess shall pay or cause to be Paid unto my daughter Susanna Mullett Wife of George Mullett of the Parish of Turnworth in ye said County the Sum of one Hundred Pounds of good & lawfull Money of Great Brittain within the space or time of six Calendar Months after my Decease and I do hereby charge my said Freehold Estate (& all belongings thereto) with the payment thereof. Also I will that my said Daughter Mary Bess shall pay, or cause to be paid unto my Daughter Ann Russell Wife of Thomas Russell of the Parish of Shillington in the said County the Sum of five Pounds of like lawfull Money both which said Sums shall be paid within six Calendar Months after my Decease and I do hereby Charge my Freehold Estate Goods & all belonging thereto with the payment of both the said Sums.
Also I give unto my Daughter Ann Russell, Wife of the said Thomas Russell my Leasehold House & Orchard known by the Name of Fords till (sic) the Lease is expired.
Also I give unto the said Thomas Russell the whole of my Apparrell both Linen & Woolen
Also I give unto Jenny Yetman Wife of John Yetman of the said Parish of Shillington my Leasehold Estate called or known by the Name of New Cross to her the said Jane Yetman & her Heirs to the expiration of the Lease, but I will that the said Jenny Yetman shall pay or cause to be paid unto my daughter Ann Russell the Sum of one Shilling per (sic, notation unclear but inference is per week) Week Weekly during her Natural Life the whole making two Pounds & twelve Shillings a year, which said payment of one Shilling per (sic: as above) Week shall commence from the time of my decease to the day of ye said Ann Russells death except she survive the Lease. And I do hereby Charge my said Leasehold Estate with ye payment thereof, And. I do hereby make, nominate constitute and appoint my said Daughter Mary Bess my whole & Sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament.
In Witness whereof I the said John Skivington have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand & Seal the Day & year first above written.
Signed, Sealed, Published and declared to be my last Will & Testament in the Presence of us, who Subscribed our Names as Witnesses

On this 11th Dec 1779 The within written will of John Skivington deceased was proved by the oath of Mary (Wife of Benjamin Bess) the lawful Daughter, of the deceased and Sole Executor within named to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased was granted; She being first duly Sworn faithfully to Administer the same to, exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Registry of the Archdeacon of Dorset, and render a just Account thereoh (sic) when thereto lawfully required.
