Eva was the daughter of David Carroll (c.1858-1930) and Elizabeth Gates (1862-1931). On 9 April 1903, at the age of 20, Eva married Arthur Phillip Parmiter (1880-1971). They were wed by the Reverend W.G. On 11 September 1903, five months after her marriage and two months shy of her 21st birthday, Eva went into labour.
