Jenny was the daughter of Edward Woodsford and Tamson Unknown.

Jenny was baptised as Jenney Woodsford on 23 November 1740 in the parish of Compton Valence (and possibly in St Thomas a Beckett).3Church of England, “Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, … Continue reading

Jenny married Charles Crofts by banns on 26 December 1764 in the parish of Long Bredy. This may have taken place in St Peter’s Church. They both signed their names. Her brother, James Woodsford, may be the ‘James Woodsford’ who witnessed their marriage. He signed his name. 4Church of England, “Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, … Continue reading

The Long Bredy and Toller Fratrum parish records record baptisms of children of Charles and Jenny Crofts and Charles and Jane Crofts. There is no burial recorded for Jenny within this time period at either Long Bredy or Toller Fratrum. There is no marriage recorded for Charles with ‘Jane’ as a spouse. The naming is not consecutive: Jane does not follow Jenny. It could be assumed that Jenny was known as Jane but this cannot be confirmed. The children definitely belong to Charles as they were documented in his last will and testament. 5The Long Bredy and Toller Fratrum parish registers were browsed using Ancestry’s Dorset, … Continue reading 6Church of England, “Dorset, England, Wills and Probates, 1565-1858”, Will of Charles … Continue reading Charles (and possibly Jenny) had the following known children: 7Other children may exist.
